The FCT Police Command has arrested Mr Peter Nwachukwu, for the murder of his wife, Osinachi Nwachukwu.
It was gathered that Osinachi died on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the age of 42, after being on a life-support for 5 days.
Osinachi, the popular “Ekwueme” Gospel singer was said be abused by the husband regularly.
After the death of Osinachi, a fellow Gospel singer, Frank Edwards went live on his Instagram to demand the immediate arrest of the husband who has maltreated her unto death.

“I have never had any reason to have a court case with anyone because I am a child of God, but you see this case, it won’t just go like that because she was a blessing to the world.
“I usually don’t get involved in things like this, I keep my family and personal stuff off social media, but this one hurt me,” he said.
He sadly wrote on his handle:
”So that Unreasonable human being finally put off a shining light. I won’t say much now , I’ll let the former Nddc director ( AUNTY Joy ) who did everything possible to stop this from happening talk 1st, but it still happened. we tried to stop this”
Also recounting an encounter with the singer, he said, “One time in a studio, this man slapped her in the studio just because she wanted to record the song in Igbo against his will. She does not do anything on her own.
“She would say, please beg my husband. She was at his mercy. I didn’t know the intensity of what she was going through; I didn’t know how somebody would be jealous of their wife or claim to love.
“There are a lot of stories where people told her this and that, but what I know was that the control was too much. The other time somebody wanted me to get her for an event, and I contacted her, but she said ‘beg my husband.”
“She couldn’t even tell people what she was going through. I only got to know because Aunty Joy contacted me to promote her song. That was when I got a glimpse into what was happening,” he said.
“It’s crazy,” he lamented.
“People have tried to invite her for their programmes, but she will keep telling them that they must beg my husband first,” he said.
Meanwhile, all the Nigerian Gospel musicians have united and demanded for justice for Osinachi.
The incident has gotten many reactions from Nigerians, and many people who knew them closely have come up to testify about the level of domestic violence which Osinachi had suffered under Nwachukwu, the husband.
Favour Made, the elder sister of late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, has narrated how her sister’s husband killed her.
She made the revelation in an interview with Vanguard newspaper following the death of Osinachi over the weekend.
She said: “She did not die of cancer.
“The husband, Mr. Peter Nwachukwu, hit her with his leg on the chest.
“All this while, he has been beating her, but my sister hides all that she was passing through from us.
“Before now, we have told her to come out of the marriage, we told her that they are not divorcing and that it’s just a separation.
“But she felt that God is against divorce.
“We told her that separation is not a sin but just for her to stay alive and take care of her children.
“She will always tell us to relax and that the man will change.
“So when the man kicked her in the chest, she fell down and he took her to the hospital but he did not even tell us.”
She said: “It was her friend who lives in Ebonyi state that called her twin sister because Osinachi has a twin sister, to ask: ‘Did your Sister tell you that Peter hit her on the chest?’
“The sister then told her no.
“It was the hitting on the chest that killed her.
“My brother had to ask the doctor what killed her and the doctor said that there were clusters of blood clot on her chest.”
Reacting to the matter, The Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, in a statement she personally signed, said domestic violence is a crime under the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act (2015), adding that the husband of the late gospel artiste would be prosecuted.
Tallen said: “We cannot continue to keep losing our young women to mentally unstable young men all in the name of marriage.
“Life first before anything. Our religious and traditional institutions, as well as the immediate families must join us in this fight to rid our society of such acts before they become fatal.
“I know more women are going through such traumatic experiences, please give them a listening ear, provide wise counsel and save them from untimely death. I am not advocating divorce for those, who will misunderstand me.
“All I am asking is that we stand up to the truth where necessary and promptly so as to save a life when you have an opportunity to do so.
“May the soul of Osinachi and all those who have lost their lives as a result of domestic violence rest in peace.
“If you see something, speak out, so that together we can save lives.”
Currently, Nwachukwu is in police detention, while investigation is ongoing.
According to Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson of the FCT command:
“He (Nwachukwu) is now in our custody. We picked him up yesterday, Sunday, The deceased younger brother reported the matter, and we have commenced an investigation. So we won’t be issuing any statement for now.”
