Veteran Filmmaker Amaka Igwe Receives Google’s Recognition

Late Nollywood Veteran Film producer and broadcasting executive, Amaka Igwe has been honored with a Google Doodle as her 57th Posthumous birthday is being celebrated. The late veteran filmmaker who died at 51 is being celebrated by Google for her indelible trade mark in the Nollywood industry.

The honor which leaves the late Filmmaker image on google’s homepages, the Google Doodle which is intended to bring about remembrance to holidays, achievements, holidays, events and  accord respect to well deserving historical figures in the world.

 

The new  Google Doodle image of Amake Igwe came up on Thursday morning as it is meant to pay respect and honor the contributions and efforts of the veteran filmmaker in the Nollywood industry during her living days.

 

The late Nigeria filmmaker who had achieved a lot, and is one of those whose contributions to the movie industry is undeniably strong is also the owner of Top Radio 90.9 Lagos and also among her other firms is the popular Amaka Igwe Studios.

She was recognized as one of the second-generation filmmakers who helped begin the video film era of Nigerian cinema.

She remained a prominent figure in the industry until her death in 2014.

The Filmmaker had, had her first national recognition and hit while as a writer and producer of award-winning TV soap ‘Checkmate’ and its offshoot ‘Fuji House of Commotion’.

Her Nollywood projects include ‘Rattlesnake’ and ‘Violated’, which set Amaka Igwe Studios apart in the Video film era of Nigerian cinema as her strength and dedication sets the pace going for her.
