Based on the information reaching us, A 55 year old man identified as mr ikechukwu Atansi, has been arrested by the anambra state command for allegedly killing his wife and locking up himself with her corpse for three days in the room.
The state police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the incident reported that the central police station Awka received a call as at 8:30 am on Thursday being the 26th of march 2020 about an unusual odour coming out of Mr Atansi’s room.
Having arrived the area with his crew and gained access into the apartment, a decomposing body of a woman who was later identified as the Man’s wife was spotted in the scene.According to him, marks of violence was observed on the body of the victim and blood spilled all over the room was served as evidence when detectives analyzed the scene.
To the greatest surprise of all however, the deceased husband (ikechukwu atansi) of umudum village in isuanaocha was right in the room with the deceased when the door was creaked open and could not give a satisfactory explanation as to what happened.
Upon being interrogated, the suspect who resides in Umueze village in Amawbia community, claimed he slept for three days without being aware of what happened to him. According to reports, he said it was during that same time some unknown persons came in and killed his wife.

Atansi also gave a silly excuse that the reason he did not communicate with anyone at that time was because his phone battery went dead.
The commissioner of police Mr. John B. Abang, has ordered for immediate transfer of the case to the state criminal investigation department(CID) Awka for proper investigation.
