Nollywood A Centre For The Promotion Of Rituals Killings And Kidnapping In The Society – Babatunde Fashola

Minister of Works and Housing and former governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Raji Fashola says the Nigerian movie industry in it’s entirety has a single direction portrayed to the world. According to his sayings, he has argued that the Nollywood industry promotes money ritual and kidnapping in the society.

The minister who had aired his opinion while speaking at the fourth annual public lecture/symposium organised by the United Action for Change, themed, ‘Security of citizens as a social contract.’ The minister while addressing the audience on the effect of a unit directional story-line and concept of today’s film in the Nigerian movie industry has expressed that money ritual is a myth, however, the story line of most Nollywood movies are knitted along the line of thought, thereby promoting an already established belief system that is invariably promoting the dangerous acts by people living in the society.

He expressed that it was high time movie makers, producers, directors and policymakers changed the narrative, to save innocent lives from being wasted.
