In repositioning the face of education and raising standard Teachers even while the standard of education system in Nigeria has fallen down the drain and gradually moving to a no value point. Teachers Registration Council Of Nigeria upon the conduction of Professional Qualification Examination which is set to raise the standards of teaching in Nigeria.
According to the information by the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN, Professor Segun Ajiboye on Sunday who has revealed that about 53,674 candidates passed the November diet of the Professional Qualification Examination, PQE, organised by the Council to certify teachers in Nigeria.
The examination’s result breakdown according to the Registrar, revealed that 72,947 teachers had written their examinations in various centers across the country in which 19,273 had failed.
While the chief executive of teachers registration council has lamented on the failure but has also applauded and lauded the great efforts of the teachers who has passed and performed excellently well in the examination. Mr Ajiboye said that despite the challenges faced in the system, that the support given to TRCN to reposition the teaching profession in the country is quite impressive.
According to the records, Lagos State topped the list of those who registered for the examination with 8,224 while 6,067 passed the examination.
This was followed by Oyo State with about 5,599 registered, while only 4,243 passed and Kaduna where 3,769 passed out of 4,008 who registered for the examination.
According to Ajiboye, the professional qualification examination was a continuous exercise and urged unqualified teachers to register and write the next diet to escape the sanction which awaits uncertified ‘teachers’ in 2020T
